\"Problems\" with oil cooling are not foreign to the S55 engine, so we recommend installing the MSL oil thermostat. The standard oil thermostat reaches around 120 degrees Celsius under normal driving conditions. The MSL oil thermostat opens at a lower temperature than the standard oil thermostat (at 85 degrees) and maintains a stable temperature between 95 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the vehicle model. Installing the MSL thermostat provides a cooler oil temperature, which results in more stable performance, but most importantly, improves engine reliability.
